Job Description

This position is located in the District of Columbia Department of Health (DC Health), HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, STD, and TB administration (HAHSTA). The functions of this position include analytical and programmatic work to the improvement of public health services through evidence-based practices. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting on the management, assessment, development, and implementation of public health programs. The desired candidate will also support local programs and agencies to achieve healthy communities, work with them to achieve health equity and eliminate health disparities with special focus on supporting populations with high risk health factors.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent will serve as a Clinical Quality Improvement Specialist (Clinical Quality Coach) under the general supervision of the Planning and Evaluation Manager. The Clinical Quality Coach will provide professional technical assistance to healthcare providers to ensure guidelines compliance to improve overall clinical measures and patient outcomes. In addition, identify promising and best practices for policy and environmental approaches/strategies to health and wellness related to chronic diseases.

The Clinical Quality Coach is responsible for ensuring policy and program activities and requirements are consistent with best practices and guidelines in the field of quality improvement. They also assist program staff in developing dashboards or tracking tools for quality indicators that align program goals and objectives with program activities related to Ryan White-funded services. Assist program staff in developing reports and documents, including but not limited to those required or deemed necessary by DC Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

Qualifications and Education

Individuals must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade (11) level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

Bachelor’s or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education

Working Conditions / Environment

The incumbent must be able to carry out official duties in a variety of settings and conditions. Routine work will occur primarily in an office setting.
