Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The primary purpose of this position is to oversee the clinical and business office operations for the assigned clinical department under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer. The Director, Clinical Operations will work with the goal of improving department performance while delivering high-quality patient services. This position will manage and plan the delivery of services and contribute to the process of strategic planning, influencing and responding to organizational priorities.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the recruitment and retention of clinic personnel
  • Supports the implementation of policies and procedures pertinent to the clinical area in coordination with the Clinical Operations team.
  • Partners with departmental leadership team to employ strategies and plans for the clinical department according to organizational standards for service excellence and growth
  • Leads practice transformation, establishment of and sustainability of team-based care in the assigned department.
  • Promotes a team approach among business office, clinical staff and providers across all sites.
  • Promotes quality and efficiency of patient care.
  • Assesses quality and appropriateness of patient care provided by clinical staff, lab staff and imaging services through the analysis of quality improvement and patient experience data, in conjunction with the Clinical Manager and initiates development plans as appropriate.
  • Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem solving methods.
  • Works with departmental leadership team to support staff to design, implement and evaluate their individual performance development plans.
  • Supports the orientation of student learners and residents to clinical area. Obtains clinic staff input for residents’ evaluation forms.
  • Ensures consistent quality of ambulatory care regardless of cultural, economic, social or medical condition differences among patients.
  • Maintains timely, open, and positive communication with the business office and other ancillary support staff for coordination of patient care.
  • Actively supports QI activities through active participation with the Quality Director ensuring staff participation in QI meetings, etc. Participates in program development, data collection and ongoing evaluation of MAHEC quality measures.
  • Identifies problems and confers with the Administrative Director concerning unusual situations or staff performance issues. Monitor quality of care and confers with Medical Director concerning any problems.
  • Serves as a role model for clinic staff by demonstrating professionalism with minimal unplanned absences and consistent punctuality in reporting to work.
  • Establishing and maintaining community and strategic partnerships in collaboration with departmental leadership.

SPECIFIED SKILLS
  • COMPUTER
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications required.
  • FOREIGN LANGUAGE
  • Spanish speaking skills preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Occasional (0 - 33% of Workday)
  • Light - Moderate energy level: Lift and carry 25 - 35 lbs, Push/Pull 50 - 100 lbs (empty bed, stretcher, etc.)

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Clinical Manager and/or clinical teams

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Five years healthcare leadership experience, specifically in time management, priority setting, and project management proficiency with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in an ambulatory setting.
  • Successful completion of an accredited Registered Nursing program, BSN preferred
  • Master’s Degree in healthcare or business field
SCHEDULE:
Regular attendance on-site is an essential function of this position. Typical business hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (or flexed to best meet the needs of the clients and/or the Division); 40 hours per workweek; weekend, holiday, or evening coverage is occasionally required. Work hours will need to be flexible in order to respond to special work assignments, or evening activities, as requested by the team leader.
