Position Title:
Clinical Exercise Specialist

Summary:
The Division of Geriatrics is seeking a Clinical exercise support specialist to support clinical trials in collaboration with our faculty, clinical research coordinators, and project managers. This position will initially provide support for a clinical trial to investigate the benefits of high intensity interval training exercise provided both at the Kansas City VA medical center and at study participants homes. Future studies may conduct similar activities with different populations and geographic areas. The individual in this position is expected to work closely with Investigators and Supervisors to accomplish the overall goals of the division.

Conditions of Employment
Occasional need to move up to 50lbs.
Access to transportation for delivery and set-up of exercise equipment in study participant's homes .
Required Qualifications
Education : Associate's degree OR an equivalent combination of relevant post-secondary education and work experience that equals at least 2 years .
Work Experience :
Experience in customer service-oriented positions.
Extensive experience in Microsoft Suite.
Detailed oriented with excellent oral and written communication as evidenced by the application materials and interview process.
Preferred Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's degree or relevant experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis.
Work Experience :
Two years' experience as an exercise trainer or involving clinical trial interaction with study participants.
Demonstrated experience in clinical trials, scientific principles.
Skills :
Ability to initiate and exercise independent judgment and decision- making skills.
Ability to work comfortably with a wide variety of individuals.
Experience working with online conference programs like zoom or teams.
Ability to assemble components with provided instructions (I.e., set up an exercise bike).
Job Duties Outlined
Work with study participants, either in person or via teleconference and administer exercise in the form of endurance training, high intensity interval training, or stretching.
May assist in the administration of physical and cognitive performance assessments in human participants.
May assist in the processing, handling, and analysis of human blood samples.
Clinical trial data handling and input into databases.
Computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and programs like Zoom/Teams.
Contribute at lab meetings including occasional presentations at lab meetings.

Compensation Statement:
The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
