Milliman's New York City/Atlanta Health Practice is seeking clinician experts with a variety of clinical, analytic, and strategic backgrounds to join our vibrant team. Milliman's New York City/Atlanta Practice consults to all sectors of the health industry, including providers, payers, employers, and life sciences organizations. Many of our projects require detailed coding algorithms to identify specific patient types in claims data, and we are seeking an individual with knowledge and expertise specific to developing such algorithms.

Primary Roles
  • Assists junior colleagues with development of their analytic, project, and client management skills; expected to teach and train staff on client-specific work.
  • Contribute to the development of white papers or peer-reviewed publications.
  • Delegates work to meet client needs and provides guidance and direction to junior staff.
  • Works collaboratively and efficiently with other clinical consultants in the practice to share lessons learned, specific insights from claims data about medical conditions, key resources, project methodologies, etc. .
  • High client engagement, including understanding the client’s business needs, establishing timelines and key milestones for projects, and managing areas of responsibility in projects.
  • General:
  • Analysis: Creates comprehensive, detailed specifications for reports and analyses to meet business needs using medical and/or pharmacy claims data. Develops, shapes, guides, and reviews analyses relevant to complex business questions using medical and/or pharmacy claims to provide insight to decision-makers.
  • Provides clinical insights and peer review.
  • Design innovative techniques for using large claims datasets to identify patients or diseases of interest to support analysis across a wide array of healthcare-related topics.
  • Typically involved in multiple projects across various clients.
  • Hands-on collaboration with other practice professionals (data scientists, data analysts, actual analysts, actuaries, etc.) to provide clinical and analytic insights, as well as direction and feedback to teams carrying out analyses.
  • Research: Conducts literature reviews to support project study design and develop methodologies for detailed claims-based studies, including coding algorithms and statistical analysis plans to generate real world evidence.
Qualifications
  • Senior Clinical Director: At least 7 years of experience
  • Knack for prioritizing and completing multiple projects and tasks
  • Required:
  • Limited travel -- working at client site is rare
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • PharmD, RN, MD, MSW, or similar background
  • Experience supporting health care-related organizations with detailed clinical or claims analysis
  • Clinical Director: At least 5 years of experience
  • Experience with commercial and/or Medicare (or similar) claims databases
  • Solid understanding of US healthcare financing; experience with payers, providers, GPOs, or PBMs
  • Strong quantitative and analytical experience
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Clinical Lead: At least 3 years of experience
  • Knowledge of administrative claims code sets: ICD-10, CPT-4, alpha-numeric HCPCS, NDC, NUBC, etc.
  • Candidate must be free of debarment or exclusion from the FDA

Compensation
  • The salary range is $85,000 to $175,000 depending on a combination of factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, location, etc. If overall of experience is less than 10 years, the range would be $85,000 to $140,000; for experience greater than 10 years, the range would be $105,000 to $175,000.
Location
Candidates hired into this role may work in-person in the Milliman office in New York City, NY or Atlanta, GA or remote arrangements will be considered.
