Job Description
Summary
Creative Hands Learning Center is looking for a full time preschool teacher to join our team.
Qualified candidates must be energetic, enthusiastic, and flexible, with a sense of humor and love for children.
This position is from 8:15am-5:15pm (M-F)
The right candidates will need:

  • Great rapport with families

Duties
  • Assist in preparing food and serving meals and refreshments to children.
  • Discipline children and recommend or initiate other measures to control behavior, such as caring for own clothing and picking up toys and books.
  • Regulate children's rest periods.
  • Organize and participate in recreational activities and outings, such as games and field trips.
  • Keep records on individual children, including daily observations and information about activities, meals served, and medications administered.
  • Perform general administrative tasks, such as taking attendance, editing internal paperwork, and making phone calls.
  • Dress children and change diapers.
  • Organize and store toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas.
  • Observe and monitor children's play activities.
  • Sanitize toys and play equipment.
  • Read to children and teach them simple painting, drawing, handicrafts, and songs.
  • Identify signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring them to parents' or guardians' attention.
  • Create developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
  • Communicate with children's parents or guardians about daily activities, behaviors, and related issues.
  • Instruct children in health and personal habits, such as eating, resting, and toilet habits.
  • Support children's emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
  • Care for children in institutional setting, such as group homes, nursery schools, private businesses, or schools for the handicapped.
  • Maintain a safe play environment.

Creating a safe and nurturing environment that supports each child's developmental needs
  • Planning and implementing curriculum along side the head teacher
  • Strong written and verbal communication with families
  • Observations and portfolios
  • Be flexible
  • Classroom duties ( cleaning, organizing)

Requirements
Minimum requirements per state regulations:
  • At least 18 years old
  • At least a Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder level one or two
  • High school diploma or GED
OR
  • At least a current CDA and 12 months experience working with children grade 3 or younger
OR
  • At least a state board of education approved human services program certificate that emphasizes child development or early childhood education and at least 12 months experience working with groups of children grade 3 or younger.
OR
  • At least successful completion of the Fundamentals for early childhood professionals' and at least 12 months experience working with children grade 3 or younger
OR
  • At least successful completion of 3 college credit course in child or human development or a 3 college credit course for school age care and education and at least 12 months experience working with children grade 3 or younger.
