Job Description
We are currently seeking a qualified Child Care Assistant Director to join our growing team at a beautiful state-of-the-art childcare and preschool program located in Strongsville, Ohio. The successful candidate will assist the center director in managing the overall operations and provide high-quality education and care for children. The childcare center focuses on cultivating an environment that fosters growth, development, and creativity in children

Assistant Director


Job Summary


As a Childcare Assistant Director you will work side-by-side supporting the Center Director with necessary behind-the-scenes duties, overseeing, planning, monitoring progress and assist with day-to-day operations. The successful candidate will report to the center director and work collaboratively with staff to ensure the efficient operation of all aspects of the center. You will work with and interact directly with parents, children, and staff on a daily basis. Duties And Responsibilities


The main educational duties will include:


  • Plan and implement high-quality educational programs that align with the center's philosophy.
  • Supervise staff and children
  • Using various software systems
  • Oversee and participate in curriculum development and staff training.
  • Work with the director to coordinate and supervise daily operations
  • Role model classroom expectations
  • Maintains compliance and paperwork with state child care licensing,


Primary Responsibilities


  • Stay in touch with parents, making yourself readily available to listen to their comments and concerns, and keeping them informed on new developments
  • Lead by example, establish positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.
  • Maintain compliance with ODJFS state child care licensing,
  • Respond to CRM inquiries made in-person, by phone, by mail or email.
  • Creating and adjusting daily staff schedules.
  • Provide staff training and constantly monitoring staff members to ensure that are accurately performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Provide excellent customer service to parents, children, and staff.
  • Ensure presence in the community growth of new families and children in the center.
  • Assist Center Director with hiring new staff.
  • Answering phone calls and greeting visitors.
  • Giving tours, hosting center events.
  • Cultivate and maintain a safe and enjoyable culture while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintenance of accurate children's and staff files and operating office equipment.
  • Demonstrated highly-effective organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.


Working Environment & Physical Demands


  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel and bend for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Able to physically respond quickly in an emergency
  • Participate in safety drills by following the established guidelines.
  • Able to walk up and down steps several times each day

The ability to function successfully within environmental conditions inherent to the childcare field. May include, but not limited to: high noise levels, exposure to bodily fluids and exposure to contagious illnesses.


Requirements


  • Candidates with a Child Development Associate (CDA), AA or higher Degree in Education with a concentration in Child Development or Early Childhood will have a competitive edge.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and Excel.
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of basic software programs is a must.
  • Energetic, friendly, a team player, organized, problem solving ability and self-motivation.
  • Model appropriate interactions between children and their families.
  • Knowledge of ProCare is a plus.
  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Clean BCI/FBI background.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy as well as must meet deadlines.
  • Proven experience as assistant director or other similar position.
  • Knowledge of ODJFS licensing rules.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a child care center.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
