Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic individual to join our team as the Chief Operations Officer (COO). As the COO, you will play a crucial role in leading and overseeing our global disaster response operations. This position will require approximately 50% travel to various locations to oversee on-location operations as needed.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement effective operational strategies to ensure efficient disaster response and emergency management services.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to government contracting and emergency management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, enhance operational efficiency, and maximize the impact of our services.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, non-profit organizations, and other stakeholders in the disaster response and emergency management industry.
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the operational departments of company.
  • Oversee risk management and contingency planning to mitigate potential disruptions to operations.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to assess the effectiveness of operations and implement improvements where necessary.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to identify and pursue new business opportunities and partnerships.
  • Oversee project management, resource allocation, and operational budgets to ensure optimal utilization of resources.
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual obligations and requirements, including proposal writing and contract management.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence in operations.
  • Provide guidance and support to the business development and sales teams, leveraging your experience in business development and government contracting.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Flexibility to travel 50% of the time as needed.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Solid knowledge of emergency management principles and practices.
  • Strong understanding of the government contracting space, including proposal writing, contract management, and compliance.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Previous experience working for a major government contractor is highly desirable.
  • Extensive experience in business development and sales, with a track record of driving growth and securing government contracts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve operational excellence.
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in operational leadership roles, preferably in the government contracting or disaster response industry.
