Social Venture Partners Connecticut (SVP) is seeking a seasoned leader in the nonprofit sector who is experienced in strategy and problem-solving and managing finance, operations, and administration of an organization.


SVP is a social impact and collective impact organization that offers management consulting and capacity building services to nonprofit organizations, businesses, educational institutions, and state and local government entities, is looking to hire an experienced Chief Operating Officer to support our statewide work in transforming Early Childhood Care and Education and Workforce Development. This is a full-time position (40 hours/week).


The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will oversee our internal operations including finance, administration, technology, performance management, and staff and volunteer Partner development. The COO will be responsible for the development of systems, process, and training to support our growing organization, nonprofit consulting work, and growing staff and volunteer Partner team. The COO will also support the implementation of SVP's race equity plan to ensure that SVP develops just and inclusive practices in our work and across our organization.

We expect the COO to foster a high performance, mission-driven organization with a collaborative team culture and to support SVP's entrepreneurial spirit that has enabled SVP to have deep impact and attract a strong Staff team and 260+ volunteer Partners. The COO role is a key member of the senior management team, reporting to the Executive Director.


Core Responsibilities

  • Oversee finance, operations, technology, and administration..
  • Foster a high performing, mission driven team that reflects SVP's shared values and ensure adequate support and empowerment of staff and volunteer Partners to increase accountability and impact.
  • Support volunteer Partner recruitment, development, and engagement and build development processes for Partner recruitment, stewardship and diversification.
  • Support the Executive Director in fundraising and development of strategic partnerships.
  • Collaborate with Director of Operations to develop systems, technology, and processes that support SVP's operations and productivity including our Salesforce CRM platform for volunteer management and partner development, IT tools and templates for consulting work and knowledge management, and data systems and metrics to support SVP's programs and outcomes.
  • Develop training and education programs to build the skills and knowledge of Staff and volunteer Partners to accelerate impact. Leverage strategic external partnerships for curriculum development and implementation (e.g.relationship management, consulting, project management, Race Equity).
  • Support the implementation of the Race Equity plan including training, review of processes and culture to ensure just practices and grant-making.
  • Develop a collaborative performance-based culture through the clarification of goals, metrics alignment (and related balanced scorecard development), and efficient work processes.

Requirements

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Self-starter who is pro-active and demonstrates high levels of motivation, organization, and accountability,and is capable of working well both independently and as a team member.
  • Effective facilitation skills.
  • Experience in leading nonprofit operations, administration, and strategy.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience leading a high performing, fast growing organization in the social sector.
  • Strong process management skills, developing effective work processes.
  • Evidence of deep commitment to equity and mission to close the opportunity gap.
  • Organizational and project management skills with demonstrated experience managing end-to-end projects.
  • Systems building experience leveraging technology and business systems to support a large scale volunteer and nonprofit consulting operation.
  • Strong analytical, strategic skills and impact-orientation. Consulting experience preferred.
  • Team builder who develops effective relationships with staff and volunteers. Capable of leading and implementing projects through building a strong sense of ownership among colleagues.

Benefits

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range is $135,000 to $175,000 per annum plus benefits. Full-time employees are eligible for paid time-off; medical, dental, and life insurance; a tech stipend; participation in SVP's 401k retirement savings plan.

Work Location and Requirements

This position will require attending key meetings in person in our Westport office and other locations in Connecticut, but there will be opportunity to perform some work remotely. All employees are required to be vaccinated for COVID.
