What You'll Do
As the CFO, you will have an exciting array of responsibilities. You'll oversee the Finance Department, ensuring our financial functions, from budgeting to payroll, are running efficiently and in compliance with all applicable regulations. Your strategic mindset will come into play as you create and implement plans to enhance our overall financial health. Your influence will extend even further as you serve as a trusted advisor on matters related to finance, accounting, and business affairs.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise the Finance Department, providing mentorship and guidance to the team.
Develop and manage our budgets, working closely with the Executive Council to align with our strategic objectives.
Oversee our fiscal management, including grant-funded programs and business enterprise budgets.
Ensure all financial activities adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
Coordinate audits and financial consultant agreements, maintaining accurate financial records.
Collaborate with our President and staff to create investment policies and strategies for our assets.
Negotiate and manage insurance coverage to protect against potential liabilities.
Who You Are
A financial guru: You possess advanced knowledge of finance, accounting, and budgeting, and are well-versed in governmental accounting standards.
Collaborative and persuasive: Your excellent communication and negotiation skills allow you to build consensus and gain trust from various stakeholders.
Visionary and strategic: You're not just a numbers person; you can envision the financial future of our Tribe and develop plans to achieve it.
Experienced leader: With at least 5 years of management experience in accounting and finance, you are no stranger to leading and motivating a team.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field.
5 years of experience supervising a team of at least four full-time employees.
5 years of management-level experience in accounting.
2 years' experience with automated accounting systems.
Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
Master's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field.
2 years' experience with Sequel Server software and automated accounting systems.
