Essential Function
The Chief Engineer is responsible for the safe economical operation of the plant and for all persons employed under him. Works with the administration on coordination and implementation of projects related to the operation and upkeep of the physical plant, including heating, ventilation and air conditioning. Communicates and coordinates all major repairs, or major improvements to be made in the physical plant equipment. Is responsible for the staff scheduling, including shifts, work hours and approval of leave time.

Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Licensure/Certification:Current stationary engineer’s license and a universal E.P.A. refrigerant certification.

Experience: Three years as a licensed stationary engineer. Experience in supervising, training and managing staff.

Skills: Ability to detect and repair HVAC and mechanical malfunctions. Individual must be able to climb all types of ladders, able to get into tightly cramped spaces. Must have the ability to carry over 100 lbs of weight up stairs. Must also have good or corrected vision.

Responsibilities
1. Responsible for the direct supervision, scheduling and all evaluations (probationary and annual) for all employees working within the department.

2. Supervise and maintain all work and maintenance logs regarding, service and repair all HVAC equipment. Schedule daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual service and repairs. Monitor computer systems.

3. Follows up that all work orders and daily assignment, along with required paperwork is completed and filed.

4. Maintains all tools and equipment used in performing duties. Updates needed tools and equipment as needed.

5. Responsible for the scheduling the cleaning of all HVAC equipment and all documentation is completed and filed.

6. Responsible for adhering to all OSHA standards and updating staff regarding any changes.

7. Verification of staff credentials and recommendation of on-going training for staff.

8. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
