Job Overview:
Manage the engineering/maintenance operations of the hotel to ensure the safety and comfort of hotel guests and team members. Follow brand standards and national and/or local regulatory requirements. May have responsibility for the Loss Prevention function. the Hotel maintenance engineer is also responsible for all areas, meeting spaces, restaurant, bar, sauna, fitness center, pool area, and hotel guestroom preventative maintenance and assists repairs and maintenance of hotel equipment including mechanical equipment such as pumps and motors and Guest Room Repairs.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Returns:
  • Perform job functions with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Implement policies and procedures under the guidance of the General Manager.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Participate in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget and financial plans. Monitor budget and control expenses with a focus on energy management, preventive maintenance, and capital planning.
  • Maintain appropriate equipment operating logbook.
  • Maintain purchasing records, equipment manuals, etc.
  • Keep all records about heat, light, power, and cost of the facility while the original document is submitted to the Financial Controller.
  • Lead hotel renovations and other projects, negotiate contracts and ensure timely completion of projects within budget.

People:
  • Satisfactorily communicate with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding.
  • Manage day-to-day staffing requirements, plan and assign work and establish performance and development goals for team members. Provide mentoring, coaching, and regular feedback to help manage conflict and improve team member performance.
  • Educate and train all team members in compliance with national and local laws and safety regulations. Ensure staff is properly trained and has the tools and equipment to carry out job duties.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Live and demonstrate the Maya Hotels core values.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for guests and team members in compliance with regulatory policies and procedures. Maintain relations with outside contacts including guests, regulatory agencies, and others as needed.
  • Train & supervise subordinates and assist in training for all employees on safety & emergency.
  • Follow directions thoroughly.
  • Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.

Guest Experience:
  • Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.
  • Follow up on all requests with the appropriate department and guests.
  • Understand and respond to customers’ needs and ensure a high level of guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain a working log of maintenance requests.
  • Maintenance and operating air condition, heater, ventilation, and refrigeration system.
  • Respond or perform duties of a groundskeeper.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance program to ensure the facility is maintained and in service for our guests
  • Repairs may include plumbing, kitchen, mechanical, laundry, electrical, heating, cooling, ventilation, furnishings and fixtures, painting, wall cover repairs, light carpentry, door, and window repairs
  • Ensure timely response to services requests from the guests, employees, and management to repair or replace interior fixtures or furnishing.
  • Provide maintenance repairs to guestrooms, public areas, and administrative offices.

Responsible Business:
  • May be responsible for hotel security to minimize the risk of theft, crime, and other hazards.
  • Learn and adhere to all fire and emergency procedures, including procedures for the handling of the fire panel, ensuring guest safety, and participating in an evacuation if necessary.
  • Maintain the MSDS log.
  • Keep work area neat and tidy.
  • Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment.
  • Plan, implement, and administer energy management program.
  • Conduct continuous inspection on the building and ground to ensure compliance with the relevant fire and safety laws.
  • Follow OSHA guidelines.
  • Comply with Maya Hotel's policies, procedures, and Code of Ethics.
  • Prioritize and organize.
  • Uniform and personal appearance are kept clean and professional and are by Maya Hotels Grooming Policy. A smile is considered part of the uniform.
  • Promote a safe working environment.
  • Maintain the Rooms Preventative Maintenance Program and consistently keep updated records on file.
  • Assist GM with SOP’s.
  • Monitors and coordinates the service performed by outside contractors by the contract, leases, service agreements, and warranties.
  • Practice safe working habits, including bending and lifting appropriately to avoid injury, reporting hazards, appropriate use of cleaning chemicals, and working to minimize tripping and falling hazards.
  • Participate in helping the hotel recycle.
  • Maintain and distribution system of electricity, water, gas, stream, etc.
