Nalco Water, an Ecolab Company, is seeking a talented scientist to join the Mining & Mineral Processing Research Group located in Naperville, IL. Our mission is to enable our customers to increase mineral recovery, improve process efficiency and drive sustainable energy and water use through the development of innovative chemical, automation and digital technologies.

What You Will Do:

  • Ensure that all research activities are performed with safety as the top priority.
  • May lead projects/experiments/research with limited scope and complexity.
  • Work under limited supervision on assigned tasks or portions of projects to determine and develop approaches to meet desired objectives.
  • Help provide solutions to a variety of problems which require collecting and analyzing data from diverse sources to solve problems.
  • Contribute to the research and development of differentiated technology, products, processes, and systems.
  • Plan and conduct lab experiments to assist in the development of new chemical products and chemical treatment performance models. The primary focus of new technology development will be mineral flotation and process scale control.
  • Document and communicate experimental results, summaries, and recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS and or MS and 0 to 3 years industrial experience.
  • Sponsorship not offered
  • Experience maintaining and operating lab equipment
  • Experience planning and executing measurements and/or experiments with minimal supervision or direction, once trained
  • Bachelors or advanced degree in a chemistry or related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with respect to collaborating with co-workers and establishing effective networks.
  • Experience in the Mining & Mineral Processing industry
  • Intermediate or expert proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, prioritize, and execute research as an individual contributor and as a member of a team.

  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills to resolve issues
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail when conducting experiments
  • Extensive experience with maintaining and operating lab equipment
  • Demonstrated experience with reviewing lab data, drawing conclusions & making recommendations for further experiments
  • Ability to manage multiple requests and manage your time
  • Demonstrated ability to improve upon existing test methods, or develop new test methods
