CFO, Global Writing Division


Newell Brands Writing Business is a global business focused on delivering innovative, consumer products and solutions through both a B2B and B2C go-to-market model. Position Overview

The Writing Business Global CFO is the key strategic business partner to the Writing Business CEO and key functional leaders for all finance related matters. The CFO is an essential partner in establishing the Business long term growth strategy, identifying and implementing operational efficiencies, and ensuring the consistent delivery of the business’ financial commitments. The Writing Business CFO will analyze operating results, interpret customer / channel / category trends, recommend initiatives to improve business efficiency, profitability, and cash generation and lead the financial reporting and controls functions of the global division.


Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

· Partner with the Writing Business Leadership Team to develop and establish the Business Unit's strategic plan to grow revenue, drive efficiencies, and increase profitability and cash deliver

· Lead the financial forecast cycle including the development of the annual financial plan, monthly forecasts and actual results for the Writing business.

· Consolidate the Writing Business plans, forecasts, and results to Newell Brands Corporate Management Committee.

· Provide an effective structure to recruit, retain, and develop the Finance team into a world-class finance organization and ensure the consistent alignment with business unit priorities and objectives.

· Partner with the Newell Brands Corporate finance organization to develop and implement improved financial processes and strengthen our control environment.

· Oversee the preparation of the monthly reporting packages and support the interpretation of the results for to the Writing leadership Team, as well as Newell Brands Corporate finance team.

· Evaluate trends, anticipate challenges, establish critical measurements, design processes and systems, and proactively address issues in support of divisional strategies.

· Partner with Leadership Teams in providing analytics and financial insights on key divisional opportunities.

· Establish KPIs and effective oversight processes which enable rapid business decisions while mitigating risks.

· Lead critical initiatives to improve the long-term operational and financial health of the Business Unit.

· Model a high-performance culture which improves the organization’s ability to operate successfully in an ever-changing macro environment with a high sense of personal accountability.

· Challenge current and/or traditional operating parameters and lead the implementation of new solutions adapted to customer / channel / category needs.


Key Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be an established, results-driven Finance leader with a proven track record of providing robust decision support through the delivery of timely, accurate and meaningful insights and analysis. The successful candidate must possess long-term strategic capabilities while also being comfortable with near-term tactical execution.

· BS/BA or University degree. Graduate degree and/or CPA preferred.

· 15 years of progressive experience providing business decision support through the delivery of timely and meaningful financial insights and analysis.

· Executive-level presence and the ability to effectively present to, and engage with, all levels within the broader Newell Brands organization.

· Experience in developing category-level strategic business and financial plans, as well as both channel and category initiatives, in support of global businesses.

· Strong leadership that inspires followership is a must. The ability to recruit, develop, and lead teams effectively in multiple global locations is critical.

· Experience in managing inventories, optimizing logistics, and minimizing go-to-market costs efficiently in a global environment.

· Demonstrated experience/ability in providing strategic financial direction and support to enterprise change-management related initiatives

· Ability to communicate complex financial decisions across multiple functions and levels of the business

· Successful cross-functional experience (Finance, Sales & Marketing, Operations) preferred.

· Demonstrated ability to recruit and develop world-class finance teams which function effectively as financial stewards, strategic partners and respected change agents.

· Willingness to travel in the performance of duties (approximately 20%)

· Demonstrated ability to quickly assess issues and make effective decisions in a dynamic business environment.
