Certified Peer Recovery Specialist - 1099 Employment


Overview:

Kyros, is hiring CPRS in the Twin Cities area who are motivated to make a difference in the lives of those affected by Substance Use Disorder (SUD). As a 1099 CPRS at Kyros, you have the freedom of creating your own availability, while maintaining a part or full time caseload. Depending on your location and availability, Kyros provides placement at a partnering program in Minnesota.

Location:

This role is not limited to the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. We are actively hiring Certified Peer Recovery Specialists to join existing team members all over the state of Minnesota.


Qualifications:

  • One year of uninterrupted sustained recovery from substances.
  • Valid and active certification on the Minnesota Certification Board.
  • Reliable Vehicle.
  • Personal lived experience in recovery.
  • Valid Driver’s License.


Responsibilities and Duties:

Provide Peer Support:

  • Engage and build relationships with individuals in recovery from substance use or mental health disorders.
  • Offer empathy, understanding, and non-judgmental support based on personal lived experiences.
  • Act as a role model and demonstrate that recovery is possible.

Conduct Individual Support Sessions:

  • Help clients develop coping strategies and resilience in their recovery journey.
  • Provide individualized peer support including the promotion of clients' goals and maintenance of clients' newly developed skills.
  • Provide in-person, phone, and virtual support as needed.

Advocacy:

  • Collaborate with community organizations to improve support systems.
  • Assist clients in accessing appropriate services and resources.

Crisis Intervention:

  • Know when and how to involve professional services or emergency responders.
  • Understand client triggers and support the development of healthy coping mechanisms.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions and progress.

Self-Care and Supervision:

  • Understand the importance of your own recovery and emotional well-being always coming first.
  • Engage in regular supervision (provided virtually and weekly by company) to reflect on personal and professional growth.

Requirements:

  • Boundaries and Ethics.
  • Strong understanding of the recovery process and principles.
  • Knowledge of substance use disorders, mental health conditions, and related challenges
  • Communication skills.
  • Cultural Competence.
  • Familiarity with community resources and support services.

Compensation:

  • Already credentialed Certified Peer Recovery Specialists start at a range of $23.50-$26.50 hourly, paid weekly
  • This is a 1099 (independent contractor) role. In order to give you the freedom of creating your own schedule and preferred availability, we are unable to utilize a W2 position. We currently are looking for part and full time roles.
