This Opportunity:
The primary responsibility of the COTA (Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant), is to provide individual and group mental health occupational therapy services to. The COTA will also collaborate with and mentor/lead the Residential Treatment Worker as needed to ensure that the person supported are engaged in quality treatment and activities- through out the day in a safe environment while under the supervision of licensed Occupational Therapist.
What You'll Do:
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings and trainings as required.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and comply with all agency policies and procedures, as well and service definitions related to specific programs.
  • Plan, organize, and hold group sessions daily.
  • Complete all other relevant responsibilities assigned by the supervisor
  • Document intervention and progress toward goals
  • Maintain trainings as required and requested
  • Ensures that the milieu is conducive to recovery and crisis stabilization that is within the parameters of the individual’s treatment and crisis plans.
  • Completion of an accredited occupational therapy educational curriculum.
  • Will lead or co-lead groups with the indivduals, daily on topics such as, but not limited to, activities of daily living, functional mobility, cognitive, perceptual, family, and individual supported education.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and comply with all agency policies and procedures
  • Maintain all necessary documentation and records in a timely manner. This may include the use of an Electronic Health Record system (EHR).
  • Provides and ensures care to individual served is promotes safety, rights, confidentiality, comfort, and dignity is in a therapeutic environment.
  • Complete all other relevant responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Collaborate with treatment team for care coordination and incorporation of OT services in the individual’s person-centered plan/treatment plan.
  • Collaboratively address the occupational needs of individuals, groups, and populations via provision of quality and outcome oriented occupational therapy services, by following plan of care outlined by occupational therapist and using person and occupation-centered interventions.
  • Driving and travel may be required.
  • Attend and actively participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, other internal and external meetings and trainings as required. Maintain certification in all agency, state, and federal training requirements.
  • Educate an individual’s family and other natural supports about how to accommodate and support occupational engagement.
  • Completes documentation as required for groups, progress notes, etc. Complete assessments as required. Provides input on admission and discharge summaries.
  • Maintain certification/licensure in all agency, state and federal training requirements.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures and assist in crisis situations
