Job Summary
Job Summary: Job incumbent provides patient care and operational support under the supervision of a registered nurse. Obtains vital signs, escorts patients to exam rooms, and prepares patients for exams. Assists medical provider or registered nurse with procedures and treatments. Keeps exam rooms and supply areas stocked and assists with room turn over between patient visits. Escorts patients to other areas of the health center and assists with either ambulatory or wheelchair transport of patients.

Essential Functions

Representative Duties: Under the direct supervision of Lead RN;
1. Provide support for client for appointments.
a) Vital signs and biometric measurements are taken as appropriate.
b) Preps exam rooms prior to patient care and cleans and resets rooms between patient visits.
c) Transports patients to/from radiology, lab or other areas of the clinic.
d) Prepares necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies, as needed.
e) Transports laboratory specimens.
f) Assists physicians and nurses with instruments and equipment as needed.
g) Stocks exams rooms with supply areas.
2. Answers telephone calls, transfers and/or takes messages and refers to appropriate individuals.
3. Communicates with all of TCC staff to ensure patients receive coordinated care.
4. Keeps medical staff and nursing scrubs stocked in dressing rooms.
5. Participates in Quality Assurance and Improvement activities' and refer to appropriate individuals., and recreation activity.
6. May float to other departments as needed to assist with patient care or administrative tasks.

1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
2. Current Alaska Certified Nursing Aide license.
3. BLS certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
4. Prior health care experience preferred.
5. Familiarity with medical terminology.
6. Must be able to pass background check pursuant to federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.

1. Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills to work individual and within a medical team.
2. Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality.
3. Proficiency with typing, using Office computer (MS Office Suite) and clinical computer applications (electronic health record systems).

Physical demands: Job incumbent may be required at times to lift up to fifty (50) pounds and be comfortable walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods. Job incumbent must be able to work under frequent deadlines.

Summary: Position requires the understanding of nursing standards of care and the ability to take direction from registered nurses execute tasks to ensure high quality health outcomes and patient satisfaction.
