Job Description

Start your career with us! We provide training as needed for full-time and part-time Culinary Associate I positions! We have openings 7 days a week! We are hiring motivated team members who are excited to actively participate in the ever changing world of the high-paced food industry.

  • Part-time employees work up to 16 hours a week. Shifts are available Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Eligible to receive holiday pay and annual & sick leave pay on a prorated basis.
  • Full-time positions are 40 hours per week and are eligible for overtime and benefits including insurance, retirement, tuition waiver, holiday pay, and annual & sick leave.

Culinary Services Division (CSD), a division of Auxiliary Services, provides meals and specialty beverages for over 18,000 customers daily and is an integral part of campus life and the overall college experience. CSD proudly provides Montana State University students with not only a repertoire of various cuisines, cooking styles, and flavors, but a comfortable atmosphere to meet friends, study, and simply relax. The division is comprised of 2 residential dining halls, a commissary kitchen, 3 coffee shops and the Union Market retail operation, Brick Breeden Fieldhouse and Bobcat Stadium Concessions, Fork in the Road food truck, MSU Catering, Indulge In-House Bakery, and the Farm to Campus Program.

Our division offers shifts to meet your needs. We have hours available 7 days a week from 5:30am – 9:30pm or later if you are working a special event with MSU Catering or Concessions. This position is OT eligible!

The Culinary Associate I actively works to provide a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for students and other customers during their dining experience.

This position will be trained to work in any number of areas: cashier station, kitchen production, display cooking station, service floor, or dish-room and pots/pans. Duties include:

  • Positively and professionally interacts with customers.
  • Operates the cashier station to properly receive monies, use a point of sale register, and daily reconciliation of the cash and credit cards.
  • Assists with monitoring inventory and keeping records.
  • Works in basic food and beverage production and service.
  • Cleans areas and equipment in accordance with the sanitarian’s recommendations.
  • And actively contributes to the team by performing other duties as needed in support of the department’s mission.
  • Assists with regular cleaning, disposition and storage of foods, supplies, equipment and laundry service.
  • Operates equipment in the dish room or pots/pans and properly stores clean service-ware and cookware.
  • Ensures quality product is being served and properly handles food in accordance with FDA food codes.
