Job Description
UNIT DESCRIPTION This will be a second shift position. 2pm to 10pm! Position Summary The Cashier/Food Service Worker works primarily in the foodservice operation, handling cash and credit transactions from Sodexo customers. In addition, they will assist in setup and serving of food from counters and steamtables. Duties will include cleaning and sanitizing equipment and work stations. As a cashier, they must accurately operate the cash register/POS and complete the transactions. Will also provide support to the retail operation, including setup, maintaining supplies and products, and assisting in cleanup and closedown. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but Sodexo may identify other responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities may differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements. General Responsibilities:
  • Interacts with customers in the serving and dining areas.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule helpful.
  • Willingness to be open to learning and growing.
  • Cleans and sanitizes workstations, counters, steam tables and other equipment.

  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).

  • Operates a cash register (or equivalent), receives payments of cash, checks and charges from customers or employees for goods or services, making change and issuing receipts or tickets to customers.

  • Attends work and shows up for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity. Experience/Knowledge:
  • Assists customers with opening containers and cutting food when requested.
  • Significant walking or other means of mobility.
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers and other departments with professionalism and respect.
  • May assist in locating, reconciling and verifying the accuracy of transactions and operate peripheral equipment that records and supports non-cash transactions.
  • Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective lenses.
  • May set up and stock the beverage area, grab and go items, service ware and condiments or other assigned areas.
  • Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
  • Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.
  • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.
  • Sets up stations with entrees, soups, salads, breads, condiments, other food products and utensils.
  • Brews coffee and tea. May be required to restock other beverage areas.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude.
  • May maintain inventory, stock, and requisitions as well as complete assigned tasks from management every day.
  • Maintains high standards for work areas and appearance.
  • Basic food-handling skills Physical Requirements:
  • May also be required to prepare for service before the meal and clean the dining room after the meal (wiping tables, vacuuming the floor, cleaning chairs, ensuring the acceptable appearance of the dining area).
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 40 pounds. Working Conditions (may add additional conditions specific to defined work location):
  • Attends all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements
  • Responsible for accurate ring of proper PLU for sale items and/or accurate barcode scan.
  • Understands and follows Sodexo cash-handling policies and procedures.
  • Complies with all Sodexo HACCP policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a positive attitude.
  • Serves and replenishes food from counters and steam tables (sometimes using a conveyor food belt), and breaks down stations at the end of meal periods.
  • Maintains a professional relationship with all coworkers, vendor representatives, supervisors, managers, customers, and client representatives.
  • Generally in an indoor setting; however, may supervise outside activities and events.
  • Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, weekends and extended hours as business dictates.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily in a controlled, temperate environment; however, may be exposed to heat/cold during support of outside activities.
  • Ability to use a computer.
  • Provides the highest quality of service to customers at all times.
