Position Description
CHRIS 180 Migrant Wellness Program provides 24-hour care for unaccompanied children (UC) under the care of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) who are placed in residential care as they prepare for sponsorship. The program provides stabilization, behavioral support, comprehensive case management, educational services, daily living skills acquisition, recreational and therapeutic activities, and coordination of care. The Migrant Wellness Program provides a family-involved, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approach to care within residential communities throughout the Atlanta area.
The Case Support Specialist position provides coordination of children and/or adolescents in placement with a wide range of responsibilities for documentation, case coordination, and coaching. The Case Support Specialist may also perform social and case management services to children including but not limited to reuni fication with family, ensuring UC safety, and maintaining accurate and current documentation of all provided services by all applicable regulatory and accreditation standards. Because of the complex backgrounds and trauma histories that our youth have experienced in their home countries and during their journey to the U.S., staff must not only provide adequate safety and supervision, but must be actively engaged in the process of building relationships, understanding and solving problems in a team dynamic, and offer energy, security and commitment in their work with our youth through genuine, caring and empathetic engagement. This position provides coordination of and oversight to direct services to residents in the CHRIS 180 Migrant Wellness Program. Each Case Support Specialist is assigned two homes and a minimum caseload of 12 at the organization’s current level of care.
Role And Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Provide case management services, including social work, counseling, and treatment of clients, and coordinate community referrals.
  • Administer case notes and documentation within the UC Portal promptly based on guidelines and procedures set forth.
  • Provide transportation to clients for but not limited to medical and mental health appointments, court appearances (as applicable), etc.
  • Assist Case Managers in maintaining client contact for case follow-up or intervention, as requested.
  • Attend and participate in training opportunities as required by the supervisor.
  • Collaboratively work with direct supervisor to schedule and prioritize work duties.
  • Stay abreast of all agencies, state, and ORR regulatory requirements related to social services.
  • Accompany youth to immigration hearings or procedures, as requested.
  • Schedule and prioritize work duties in partnership with the supervisor and other team members.
  • Ensure resident safety while in care.
  • Assist Case Managers in maintaining contact with clients during a Case Manager’s absence to ensure coverage of all program cases.
  • Assist Case Managers with essential paperwork and documentation.
  • Report transportation problems that occur and impede timely transportation requests.
Performance and Conduct:
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Ensures agency compliance with National Council on Accreditation and other mandatory regulations/standards.
  • Works on other duties, tasks, and projects as assigned.

  • Maintain confidentiality of client information.
  • Support and maintain an environment of emotional and physical safety for youth, staff, and other stakeholders always.
Demonstrate Customer Service:
  • Answer telephone calls and emails accordingly.
  • Always promote a positive image of CHRIS 180 programs.
  • Work with sponsors, education professionals, court officials, and other stakeholders and a helpful and professional manner.

Maintain Personal Information and Training:
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Review, understand, and be responsible for program policies.
  • Attend and participate in required training as scheduled.
  • Provide documents in a timely fashion to Human Resources (HR).
  • Report changes in status to HR as required by policy.
  • Maintain required certifications.
Qualifications/Competencies :
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is required.
  • Child welfare and/or case management experience is strongly preferred.
  • Computer skills adequate to perform essential functions (Apricot, Microsoft Office, and any internal case management software).
  • Bachelor’s degree in the behavioral sciences, human services, or social services fields, is required.
  • Prior experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations, is strongly preferred.
  • Must pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries.
  • Exhibit an ability to apply the principles of logic and critical thinking with problem-solving.
  • Must be reliable with time-sensitive deadlines and tasks.
  • Work well under pressure and adaptable to change.
Schedule:
The hours will vary from week to week with a maximum of 40 hours a week at any given time unless written permission is given otherwise. The schedule will include weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
