Day Shift Caregiver Responsibilities


  • Follow a plan which may include assisting with exercise and reminding to take prescribed medication.
  • Perform simple housekeeping tasks: change bed linens, do laundry, tidy rooms.
  • Make efforts to keep the patient engaged mentally through conversation, games, and other forms of entertainment.
  • Handle chores like grocery shopping and food preparation.
  • Assist with personal care, which may include bathroom functions, bathing, grooming, dressing, and eating.
  • Monitor and report changes in health, behavior, and needs.
  • Help the patient in and out of bed, the bathroom, chairs and wheelchairs, and cars.
  • Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
  • Work with a variety of clients, such as the elderly, physically disabled, cognitively impaired, and chronically ill.
  • Ensure the client's home is organized according to their needs and that safety measures are in place.


Day Shift Caregiver Requirements


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards
  • Respectful and compassionate.
  • A driver’s license may be strongly desired.
  • A professional and friendly attitude.
  • Job experience and CPR training may be necessary.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Further education may be beneficial.
