Cardiac Sonographer - Stony Brook Children's Service, UPFC

Location: Commack, NY

Schedule: Full Time

Days/Hours: 8:00am to 4:00pm (Hours may vary)

Pay: $40.31 - $50.34

Responsibilities:
SUMMARY: The Congenital Cardiac Sonographer provides high quality patient care utilizing the skills and knowledge of the profession.

Job Duties & Essential Functions:
  • Enter patient data, measurements and demographics into reporting system.
  • In addition, the qualified candidate will perform the following:
    • Enter charges for echocardiograms performed.
    • Enter patient data, measurements and demographics into reporting system.
    • Participate in the Quality Assurance meetings conducted quarterly.
  • Under the general supervision of the Medical and Technical Directors of Pediatric and Fetal Echocardiography, the Congenital Cardiac Sonographer will perform and assist in the performance of a variety of echocardiographic procedures on fetuses, infants, children and adult patients in both inpatient and outpatient setting.
  • Enter charges for echocardiograms performed.
  • Obtain images using standard 2D, color flow, Doppler and M-mode techniques according to the pediatric and fetal echocardiography protocols adopted by the Division of Pediatric Cardiology.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Participate in the Quality Assurance meetings conducted quarterly.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications :
  • Superior communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Graduate of an accredited diagnostic ultrasound program.
  • Registered (or registry eligible) by ARDMS in adult or pediatric echocardiography OR by CCI as a cardiac sonographer or registered congenital cardiac sonographer.
Preferred Qualifications :
  • Experience in non-cardiac ultrasound
  • Registered in fetal echocardiography by ARDMS or CCI
  • At least one year of experience in pediatric echocardiography
  • Registered in pediatric echocardiography by ARDMS or CCI
  • At least one year of experience in fetal echocardiography
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with patients, staff and medical providers. The employee must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. This position is largely sedentary and requires the employee to remain stationary for a majority of the day. The responsibilities and tasks outlined in this job description are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of CPMP. Any additional physical demands will be outlined and provided by management.
