Job Description
Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA) is looking for an energetic individual as our CAD/GIS Technician as part of the Engineering Team located in Fairbanks, Alaska. This full-time IBEW position earns a competitive starting wage of $32.03 hourly including excellent benefits.


A day in the life of an CAD/GIS Technician can look like:


Use CAD/GIS experience to provide detailed, accurate drawings for design, construction, maintenance and protection of substations, communication sites, generation plants, offices and other GVEA facilities. Use computer software skills to maintain and enhance the GIS, prepare drawings, maps, diagrams, sketches, and publications in conformance with company standards and good engineering practices. Utilize analytical and research skills to gather and analyze data for projects such as reproduction of circuit diagrams, system maps, subdivision plats, underground drawings, electrical diagrams, etc.


Eligibility


  • A valid Alaska driver's license.
  • Experience with GIS and understanding the relationship of geographic spatial data and the underlying tabular information.
  • Technical certification in AutoCAD or Drafting
  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Experience with CAD drawing management software


GVEA conducts pre-employment, post-offer drug/alcohol screening and background checks. Background checks will be conducted on all final candidates as deemed necessary. All offers of employment at Golden Valley Electric Association are contingent upon clear results of a drug/alcohol screening. As a condition of employment, successful applicants must become an IBEW member within 30 days after employment. This position is open until filled.
