Position Summary

This position will perform tire maintenance and service on transit bus vehicles. This position requires being flexible and available to work varying shifts. The incumbent of this role will require the skill to move buses within the transit yard.

Pay Range: $0.00 - $100.00

Responsibilities

  • Observe all safety rules and procedures associated with the performance of duties
  • Performing Retorques
  • Process all necessary paperwork on time
  • Attend meetings held by Field Supervisor
  • Use personal protective equipment according to regulations and policies
  • Keep the work area clean and clear of all debris to ensure a safe work environment
  • Mounting, balancing, rotating, and repairing Bus Tires
  • Any other duties as assigned
  • Maintain tools and equipment in efficient operating conditions
  • Mounting tires on and off of Busses
  • Unload and load tire and related items from trucks as required

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND OCCUPATIONAL DEMANDS:

  • 100+ pounds of pressure when pushing tires
  • Repetitive and sustained exertions, forceful exertions, awkward postures, mechanical stress concentrations, vibrations
  • Exposure to various chemicals used in cleaning, lubrication, etc.
  • Frequent bending, twisting and lifting over 50 pounds regularly
  • The environment is very hot during the summer months and cold during winter

NATURE OF DECISION-MAKING:

  • Determine if replacement or repair is needed
  • Material to best complete the service work requested
  • Types of repairs necessary

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Satisfactory work, safety, and attendance record
  • TIA level 2 certification (the U.S. only) within the first 2 weeks of employment
  • 1-2 years applicable experience as Tire Technician 1 proficiency level
  • TIA level 3 certification within 2 years from the date of hire
  • To progress to Tire Technician 2, the following is required:
