The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill a Buildings and Grounds Supervisor position. This position is based out of Redgranite Correctional Institution (Redgranite, WI, Waushara County).

Position Summary
This position assists in assuring proper functioning of the institution facilities and grounds. This position supervises and directs the work of maintenance staff, provides emergency repair services, ensures safety and code compliance, establishes and maintains preventative maintenance programs, purchases maintenance supplies and services, performs record keeping and other administrative duties, supervises inmate workers and maintains security in work areas.
Salary Information
This position is in pay schedule/range 81-04 with an annual salary of $40,476 - $74,588, plus excellent benefits. Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensations Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code. A twelve-month probationary period is required.
Job Details
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have experience or training:
Maintaining or repairing systems commonly used in building/institution complexes. (i.e. heating, cooling & refrigeration systems, electric and mechanical equipment, food service equipment, grounds equipment, security systems, building structure components, plumbing, electrical, computerized and mechanical systems, and vehicles.)
Planning and directing the maintenance and repair of service systems. (i.e. telephone, radio, computer local network, electric, security fences, cameras, natural gas, water distribution systems and storm, and sanitary sewer system.)
Supervisory/lead worker experience (e.g. training, assigning duties, reviewing work, staffing process, interviewing candidates, hiring recommendations).
Well qualified applicants will have additional experience: Establishing and maintaining safety training programs for staff, including lockout/tag out procedures, materials handling safety, and flammable liquid handling. Investigating any reposted problem areas and implement any required corrective action to keep critical systems operating.
