Building Engineer Assistant Jobs

South Dakota State University’s Facilities and Services Campus Planning & Design department is currently seeking a Building Information Modeling Specialist. SDSU Facilities and Services is a fast-paced division of the university, providing maintenance and operations, planning, engineering, and construction services to campus.

Job Responsibilities: Work under the direction of design and construction professionals to generate construction drawings; maintain building asset attributes & space information; update campus design standards; prepare facilities space reports; provide project management support services and assist the GIS Technician with preparing and maintaining campus maps.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of:

• Engineering, Architecture, construction management or related field.
• Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office software.

Skill & Ability to:

• Perform project design and management for small and medium scale projects.
• Update online standards for the university.
• Demonstrate high level of communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
• Maintain filing system on all building models and future construction projects.
• Routine and complex computer-aided modeling.

Preferred Experience:

• Associate’s degree in Engineering or Architectural Technology.
• Construction project management experience and/or experience working with facilities groups.
• ArcGIS software to occasionally assist and work with F&S GIS staff.
• Website design & updating principles.

Required License: Valid driver’s license.
