Description:

The Branch Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of account services in the credit union's back office. This role involves developing and implementing efficient processes, ensuring accurate financial transactions, managing cash item collections, monitoring account activity for fraud prevention, conducting audits, and training and supervising branch staff. It also involves participating in product development, collaborating with IT teams, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring the credit union's operations are current with industry trends and comply with regulatory requirements. This position’s location is listed as hybrid (people can work more than one day from home) and satellite (people can work from an LCCU office located in a different region than where the department to which they belong is located).

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Keep current with industry trends and regulatory changes affecting account operations and record services and implement necessary adjustments to ensure compliance.
  • Manage vendor relationships related to account operations, record services, and branch balancing.
  • Monitor and analyze account activity to identify potentially fraudulent transactions and implement security measures.
  • Develop and maintain effective documentation and standard operating procedures for back-office processes.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve member inquiries, account issues, and discrepancies.
  • Conduct regular audits of account records and transactions to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and reconcile branch balancing reports to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  • Supervise and train back-office staff, providing guidance and support in account operations and record services.
  • Develop and implement efficient processes and procedures for account maintenance, recording services, and new account products and services.
  • Manage cash item collections, including handling large cash deposits and coordinating cash shipments to the Federal Reserve.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and transfers.
  • Oversee and manage daily account operations in the credit union's back office.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to enhance and maintain the credit union's account management systems and software.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minimum of seven years of experience in the financial services industry. An equivalent combination of education and experience is accepted. Related experience in operational management and supervision is preferred.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic business plans and create effective strategies for meeting targeted objectives.
  • Expertise in conversion and migration projects (preferred).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including cost/profit management expertise.
  • Availability to travel as needed to successfully perform position responsibilities.
  • Ability to build rapport and interact professionally at all organizational levels.
  • Professional working proficiency in English is required, and Spanish is preferred.
  • Ability to constructively challenge outdated practices and convey appropriate laws, rules, and regulatory boundaries.
  • Ability to negotiate, coach, and influence others across all organizational levels and functions.

Physical requirements: Must be able to sit for extended periods of time, use the computer and telephone to complete work, and lift up to 30 pounds at times.
