Position Summary


The Wisconsin Historical Society has recently developed a centralized ticketing office (Box Office) as part of its values to better Embrace a Spirit of Service, Exceed Expectations and Think Big and Grow with Purpose. The Box Office Customer Service Representative would support these values through their excellent customer service to patrons via phone and email communication, creation and support of Society events and ticket sales in the ticketing system, and troubleshooting event related issues.

The Wisconsin Historical Society has recently acquired a new ticketing platform, ACME Ticketing. This role will assist and support the continuing transition and onboarding of the Society’s programming and events across our many departments and divisions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support general ticketing monitoring.
  • Support ACME Ticketing Users with troubleshooting needs.
  • Support ticket system onboarding for new users.
  • Configure event templates and related buildout in ACME Ticketing system.
  • Provide onsite event support as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of current WHS events and experiences for sale through the online store and sold directly through the site/location. Ascertain and resolve customer concerns, complaints, and/or requests in a courteous and timely manner with guidance from supervisor as needed.
  • Collect complete and accurate data from customers to correctly process payments and reconcile transactions.
  • Monitor phone calls and box office email address to assist customers with inquiries and purchasing across WHS.
  • Attend applicable virtual and in person trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Understand and relate purchasing policies to customers.
  • Support the creation of tickets for events across WHS spaces to ensure accurate attendance data.

Salary Information


Pay is $17.00 per hour. This classification is in schedule and class 02-11.

Please note this is a Limited Term Employment position so it does not include paid time off or benefits upon hire.

Job Details


A criminal background check will be conducted by WHS prior to an offer of employment to determine if the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job.

This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and limited to 1,039 hours. This position will be part time and average 20 hours per week.

Wisconsin residency is required for Limited Term Employment positions.

Limited Term Employment (LTE) positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to permanent civil service classified positions and do not lead to permanent status.

WHS does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.

Certain positions within WHS may allow remote/work from home flexibility for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to work flexibly.
  • Knowledge of e-commerce, Point of Sales systems, and/or ticketing systems preferred. Specific knowledge of ACME Ticketing a plus.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, communication, and telephone skills.
  • Ability to relate professionally and pleasantly to customers and other staff.
  • Learn and implement Wisconsin Historical Society values and policies.
  • Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures and fiscal responsibility, including PCI compliance.
  • Computer skills and digital literacy, including a strong understanding of MS Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook.
  • Ability to work select weekends, and some evenings and holidays.
