Position Overview:

Bechtel is seeking a talented Big Data Engineer to join our new Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) Business. M&T focuses on delivering complex and world class technology projects that address growing customer and market demands in the semiconductor, electric vehicle, advanced materials, and data center sectors.

At the heart of M&T is the Digital Solutions team where we leverage big data platforms and technologies, intelligent integration, and advanced analytics to enable and empower data-driven decision-making, planning, and execution throughout the project lifecycle—all at the speed and efficiency our tech-savvy customers demand.

The Big Data Engineer will report to the Digital Solutions Lead. You must have the ability to travel to our Reston, VA headquarters, client offices, and project sites as needed to support successful client relationships and project execution.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ingest, Process, and Model data from many heterogenous data sources to support the M&T business and projects.
• Collaborate with a team of other data engineers, analysts, and business subject matter experts to process data and prepare data sources.
• Big data design and analysis, architecture development, data modeling, development, deployment, and operations of big data pipelines.

Basic Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of queueing, stream processing, and highly scalable data stores.
• Strong understanding of structuring code for testability.
• Experience working with and supporting cross-functional teams.
• Level 1: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field and 3 years working experience.
• In depth experience with a big data cloud platform, specifically Azure.
• Strong grasp of programming languages (Python, Scala, or equivalent) and a willingness to learn new ones.
• Level 2: Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field and 5 years working experience.
• Experience writing database-heavy services or APIs.
• Experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures, and data sets.
