Our Claims Analytics department is seeking a BI Developer to join our growing team.
Position summary: We are looking for a motivated business intelligence professional who wants to become an integral part of The Hanover Claim organization’s journey as we build best in class BI capabilities. This position is primarily responsible for ensuring the execution of the data and reporting strategy for the Claim organization. By becoming part of the team that is the ‘Trusted Connection’ to claims data, you will work closely with leadership throughout the Claim organization to deliver actionable insights. The BI Developer will focus on Business Intelligence solution design and implementation, with a focus on leveraging AI/ML to drive insights to action.
This is a Full-time, Exempt role.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
  • Perform liaison function between department and technology teams in the development of the MIS strategies and other long-term initiatives
  • Develop industry knowledge and internal data expertise to provide solutions to complex business questions
  • Will train less experienced employees in technical complexities of assigned work
  • Develop and execute database queries and conduct analyses
  • Anticipates the broader impact of work efforts across architectural system components, critical business processes, and applications.
  • Create visualizations and reports for requested projects
  • Develop and update technical documentation
  • Collaborate with teams to integrate systems
  • Design, build and deploy BI solutions (e. g. reporting tools)
  • Adapts quickly to new technologies and changing business requirements
  • Manage multiple projects and prioritize deliverables to meet the needs of the business
  • Translate business needs to technical specifications - consultative
  • Identify development needs in order to improve and streamline operations
  • Analyze business processes and requirements
  • Create and maintain documentation including requirements, design and user manuals
  • Operates with substantial latitude
  • Evaluate and improve existing BI systems
  • Execution of processes necessary to prepare data and meet information needs in a timely fashion
  • Plans, and develops BI solutions, provide reports, processes and applications through the application lifecycle
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and strategies with technology solutions
Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant technical field.
  • Possesses a detailed understanding of statistical procedures & methods.
  • 2+ years of experience in analytics / BI development roles.
  • Insurance & insurance product experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong organization, project and time management skills
  • Proficiency in end-user business intelligence software and technologies, including Oracle OBIEE and Microsoft PowerBI.
  • Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office; specifically, Excel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Power Platform including Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps
  • Intermediate or higher level programming skills – SQL, R, Python
  • Ability to develop and automate processes.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and presentation form.
