Under clinical supervision, provides culturally congruent behavioral health services as a collaborative and valued member of a behavioral health care team. Services provided may include behavioral health screening, case management and community outreach and intervention. Summary:

The ANTHC Behavioral Health Wellness Clinic is a 100% telehealth clinic physically located on the Alaska Native Health Campus in Anchorage, Alaska. We are hiring a Behavioral Health Aide or Counselor Technician to join our growing intake and case management team. The Behavioral Health Aide role is highly interactive and valued as it provides the first interaction an individual has with our clinic. Each day includes collaborating with our team of providers, delivering intake services, and connecting clients to care.

Responsibilities:

Under clinical supervision, facilitates client centered and culturally congruent behavioral health services. Advocates for client rights and actively seeks and accepts clinical supervision. Demonstrates behavior consistent with the Behavioral Health Aide Code of Ethics professional code of ethics, professional standards, agency policies, and the law. Maintains healthy and appropriate professional boundaries and behavior. Completes routine charting. Ensures timely, accurate, and efficient completion. Maintains records consistent with organizational Policy and Procedures, Medicaid, and other applicable regulations. Ensures that confidential material/records/correspondence is kept secure and that individual client confidentiality is maintained according with HIPPA requirements. Performs all duties in a respectful, kind, safe, timely, equitable, client-centered, and culturally-attuned fashion in order to help clients achieve wellness and autonomy. Serves as a collaborative and helpful colleague who promotes a supportive and positive work environment for colleagues. Completes specific training, practicum, and job duties that support the advancement of BHA certification. Performs other duties as assigned.

Skill in behavioral health screening, interpretation, and feedback.

Skill in maintaining personal and professional boundaries and applying them in a rural/village setting.

Skill in obtaining client consent for services.

Skill in analyzing safety issues and preparing recommendations based on findings.

Skill in providing and maintaining accurate documentation in the client health record.

Skill in identifying crisis and reporting to licensed behavioral health clinician regarding crisis events.

Skill in developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships with clients and community members.

Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION
Behavioral Health Aide I - None
MINIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION
Behavioral Health Aide I CHAPCB BHA Level I Certification within one-year of hire.
PREFERRED EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
Behavioral Health Aide I -Alaska Commission for Behavioral Health Certification approved counselor technician training, University of Alaska Rural Human Services year one training or Behavioral Health Aide year one training
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION
Experience in the Alaska Tribal Health System.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION
Behavioral Health Aide I CHAPCB BHA Level I Certification.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must pursue an ongoing professional development plan including formal training certification as recommended by the department. If not already a certified BHA, must complete and maintain BHA certification within set timeline (see Minimum Certification Qualifications) with renewal every two years at employer’s expense.
