Job Description
Overview
The behavior technician is responsible for ensuring that the programming created by the clinician is implemented with his/her assigned client.
General Requirements
This position requires a person to have a minimum of a high school diploma. Preferable if the person has experience working with children and teens who have been diagnosed with autism.
  • Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting,
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time
  • Must have manual dexterity to perform specific computer and electronic device functions
  • Must be able to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time
for data collection
  • Must be physically present at the assigned job location, which may include home, center
and community placements
  • Must have reliable transportation and be willing and able to travel between different job
sites
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To
  • Provide client care in 1:1 and group settings using a combination of intensive teaching
and natural environment training arrangements
  • Follow the prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols as
developed by the supervising clinician
  • Provide support in the collection, recording and summarizing of data on the observable client
behavior
  • Effectively communicate with parents and caregivers regarding client progress as
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures set by the Michigan Learning Community
instructed by the supervising clinician
  • Utilize safe & appropriate handling procedures when working with clients
  • Maintain client confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability &
Accountability Act) and be courteous towards the privacy of your client and his or her
family
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized work and therapy environment
