Job-Overview


At Edward Jones we are developing the Next-Generation data architecture to support Analytic Insights. This team finds innovative solutions that will deliver the right method, standards, techniques, and capabilities to support the growing number of data analytics use cases at Edward Jones.


As an Azure Databricks Architect you will provide leadership and collaborate with a diverse array of stakeholders to help conceptualize and implement Databricks solutions, how to leverage the technology against our analytics and other platforms and develop system designs that ensure highly performant solutions across these systems.


What you'll do:


  • Integrate Databricks with 3rd-party applications such as Dataiku, Starburst, Immuta, Collibra, Snowflake etc.
  • Leverage agile strategies to understand and solve problems while collaborating on technical decisions.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for Databricks solutions, including design documents, data dictionaries and standard operating procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Databricks environment performance issues, connectivity issues, security issues and provide on-call production support where needed.
  • Implement monitoring & alerting solutions, standardize access patterns, and develop solutions around high-availability and disaster-recovery.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with technology teams and business partners to facilitate improved alignment of technology initiatives to business strategies.
  • Keep up to date with emerging trends and technologies in the data engineering and big data space, and proactively identify opportunities to improve Databricks-based solutions.
  • Conceptualize the design and develop technical solutions for Azure Databricks architecture configuration.
  • Manage Databricks infrastructure and collaborate with various teams to ensure it integrates seamlessly with all components including network, security, messaging, and remote access.
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to automate Databricks environment deployments.
  • Implement Databricks Lakehouse architecture and provide technical leadership to support successful understanding, evaluation, and adoption of Databricks.
  • Ability to evangelize Databricks and its capabilities across the firm.

Skills-Requirements


What you'll need:
  • Architecting, deploying, managing, and supporting Azure Databricks, Azure Datalake and related solutions
  • Bachelor's Degree or related work experience
  • Using scripting languages and command-line (CLI) tools such as Ansible, SQL, Terraform, Azure CLI, Databricks CLI, PowerShell and/or Bash
  • Working with Cloud provider tools and architecture (Azure)
  • Using a broad set of data ingestion and data pipeline patterns, and associated tools like (Qlik Replicate, Qlik Compose, Databricks, Kafka, Matillion ELT and Snowflake Services)
  • 3+ Years' Experience Managing and Supporting Databricks and Cloud platforms which includes:

  • Working with and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and versioning tools such as Git
  • Experience with other Azure Services like Synapse Analytics, Keyvault, DataFactory
  • Experience in management and tuning of data platforms like Azure ADLS storage and Databricks.
