Job Description

Key Responsibilities
  • Create mechanism to measure effectiveness of all media campaigns.
  • Coordinate with communications team and other leaders (IR, HR, ESG) to cultivate and advance Arch’s brand.
  • Assist leaders in their communications with these external stakeholders.
  • Advisor
  • Work closely with business units that use outside partners to ensure messaging alignment and executive awareness of all initiatives.
  • Help ACGL leadership develop their social media profiles and work to create plans/strategies for positioning key leaders as experts in their fields.
  • Social Media
  • Help identify, track and ultimately manage potential reputational issues. Work with communications and business leadership to develop communications plans, response strategies and potential outcomes.
  • Liaise with employee communications team to identify stories and narratives that would be of interest to external audiences.
  • Coordinate with businesses to identify appropriate speaking engagements and ensure those speaking at engagements are appropriately prepared.
  • Coordinate with business and marketing teams on drafting, editing and distributing press releases. Work with business leaders to help determine desired outcomes from press releases and work to develop a strategy to help leverage the release to achieve that outcome.
  • Work with leadership at the corporate and business level to develop a thought leadership strategy for key executives and business lines. This will include contributing to a standard messaging approach to ensure consistency across the organization.
  • Engage with experts in the business to draft articles, white papers, blogs and other communication vehicles to help position Arch as a thought leader in its space.
  • Serve as advisor to senior leaders throughout the company, developing and executing external communications (earned media) campaigns that will enhance our corporate reputation and brand.
  • Thought Leadership
  • Develop a media relations practice at Arch. Cultivate relationships with key industry reporters to help position Arch as ‘first call’ for insights and responses on industry matters.
  • Direct issues management and crisis communications. Develop position statements and a repository of communications materials/policies, including talking points, media statements, Q&A, etc. around corporate issues in partnership with key corporate functions.
  • Media Relations
  • Manage corporate social media strategy and liaise with businesses to maximize exposure and impact.
  • Government, Agencies and Regulators
Qualifications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; proven ability to build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Must be committed to the success of the team.
  • Experience working in the insurance industry and in or with a global organization strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree. (Communications, Public Affairs, Journalism or related field strongly preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in leading project campaigns independently.
  • Exceptional writing ability. Fluency with AP Style.
  • Experience with a PR Agency/Firm is a plus.
  • 10+ years in media relations, communications, or similar experience. Must have experience in media relations and issues management.
  • Proven track record of building consensus and steering sensitive and sometimes controversial topics through the organization and to completion.
  • Ability to synthesize complex messages, products and market challenges.
  • Good judgement and ability to handle confidential information with the highest level of discretion and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated success in working with high-level executives to achieve communications and business outcomes
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with an ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
For individuals assigned or hired to work in Jersey City, New York City, and/ or Westchester County, the base salary range is listed below. This range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.
$85,000 - $142,000

The above range may be modified in the future
