Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose avionics system malfunctions using technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and suppliers for the procurement of avionics parts and equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance and preventive maintenance tasks on avionics systems to ensure proper functioning and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Stay updated on the latest technological advancements in avionics systems and attend training programs as necessary to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Conduct functional tests and post-repair inspections to verify the performance and reliability of avionics systems.
  • Install, inspect, and repair avionics systems, including communication, navigation, radar, autopilot, and flight management systems.
  • Collaborate with aircraft mechanics and engineers to coordinate avionics installations and modifications during major aircraft maintenance events.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and inspections conducted, in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure that tools and equipment are properly calibrated and maintained.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations and industry standards while working on avionics systems.


Qualifications:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools, meters, and other specialized avionics equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft electrical systems, avionics components, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Degree or certificate from an accredited two-year college, university or technical school in avionics maintenance or a related field, or equivalent military training, or prior OJT experience working as an avionics technician.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working as an Avionics Technician in the aviation industry (Preferred)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Familiarity with relevant FAA regulations, such as FAR Part 43 and Part 91.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and be on-call when required.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, delegate responsibilities, and manage a team effectively.


Additional Desired Qualifications ·

FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification.


Working conditions:

Western Plains Aviation performs maintenance primarily at its Greeley-Weld County Airport facility. Individuals considering employment with Western Plains Aviation must be willing to travel on occasion, work outside in inclement weather if needed, work overtime, and work on weekends if necessary.

  • Climb on and under planes maintaining balance without fear of heights
  • Make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects (finger dexterity)
  • Quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or aircraft/vehicle to exact positions (control precision)
  • Visually see details at close range
  • Quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects (manual dexterity)
  • Keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position (arm hand steadiness)
