The Water Treatment Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the boiler make-up and cooling water systems. The operator will report to the Shift Supervisor.
The duties of the Water Treatment Operator will include the following items:
  • Understand safety data sheets for all reagents and chemicals used in the daily performance of the position.
  • Cleaning strainers and baskets
  • Replacing and repairing leaky fittings
  • Monitoring boiler, steam, and condensate chemistry.
  • Be able to communicate effectively with all shift personnel on the system status and operation.
  • Maintain the reagent inventories.
  • Assistance in changing out pumps
  • Perform testing of boiler water, steam and cooling tower chemistry.
  • Coordinating and executing the off-loading procedures of all water treatment chemical deliveries.
  • Understanding and following operating procedures for the system.
  • Maintaining the water system equipment including but not limited to:
    • Cleaning strainers and baskets
    • Replacing and repairing leaky fittings
    • Assistance in changing out pumps
    • Maintain and clean Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
    • Perform minor maintenance tasks
    • Maintain the reagent inventories.
  • Maintain and clean Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Monitoring water treatment equipment for performance to determine when things need to be cleaned, regenerated, or replaced.
  • Monitor the demineralizers, pre-treatment, RO and condensate polishing and circulating water systems.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks
Other tasks will include:
  • Manager sewer discharge volumes and quality.
  • Any other tasks deemed necessary by the Shift Supervisor
  • Managing city water consumption
  • Taking proper system logs
  • Keeping the chemical dikes and off load trenches empty.
  • Periodic cleaning of the raw water and RO heat exchangers
