Job Description
What to Expect
Tesla is seeking an experienced Audio DSP Algorithms Engineer who has designed and implemented advanced audio processing algorithms over multiple product cycles. This engineer should have a strong mathematical foundation in signal processing, and a strong understanding of the design of embedded systems. This engineer must thrive in a start-up company environment with great opportunities for growth and spectacular achievement.
What You’ll Do
  • Conduct end to end studies for algorithm selection, development, tuning, and validation.
  • Validate the algorithm/implementation and set up scripts to assist validation.
  • Implement the algorithm in C/C++ to run on device.
  • Define validation test plans across the range of possible corner cases to ensure audio quality.
  • Root cause and troubleshoot algorithm performance issues across the entire acoustic/electronics/software stack.
  • Develop audio signal processing for next generation Tesla vehicles: acoustic rendering for playback, speech enhancement, acoustic detection, etc.
  • Define and document system and component requirements for algorithm performance on prospective platforms, incorporating acoustic, hardware, and software dependencies.
  • Prototype the algorithm in MATLAB/python.
  • Define algorithm blocks and their integration into the larger system.
What You’ll Bring
  • Signal processing intuition regarding time/frequency duality, implications of discrete time signal processing, and implementation details on fixed/floating point architectures.
  • Solid acoustics intuition.
  • Adept at working with cross functional team-members from multiple disciplines to reach fact-based decisions
  • Strong mathematical skills - advanced linear algebra, calculus, and optimization are a must.
  • Fluency in MATLAB or Python for scientific/mathematical problem solving as well as testing and data analysis.
  • Strong problem solving skills and desire to work in fast paced environment Work cross functionally with other teams within Tesla and drive the timely implementation of dependencies.
  • Experience in embedded C/C++ programming, board bring-up, profiling, optimization, simulation, and various levels of testing (SW only, HW/SW integration, etc.).
  • Familiarity with typical audio processing blocks and DSP techniques.
  • Experience with the following is a plus: stochastic signal processing, signal detection and estimation, 3D sound, HRTFs, crosstalk cancellation, dereverberation, blind deconvolution, direction of arrival estimation, machine learning, sound event detection, anomaly detection.
  • Experience developing and implementing one or more of the following on embedded platforms: beamforming – MVDR, GSC, multichannel Wiener filter – multichannel blind source separation, multichannel echo cancellation, Kalman filter, adaptive filters.
