The O’Neal School seeks a qualified person to fill the role of full-time Athletics Coordinator and Physical Education Teacher.
The Athletics Coordinator and Physical Education Teacher will be responsible for coaching, setting up and administrating athletic events and teaching physical education classes. Additional roles will be assigned to assist other divisions at the school.
The major responsibility of the position is to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program according to the guidelines provided by The O’Neal School curriculum which guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Stay abreast of developments in the field through reading, research, and professional development, including faculty development days.
  • Participate in sponsorship of student extracurricular activities which may include coaching of athletic teams.
  • Liaise and collaborate with colleagues, including Athletics Director, Assistant Athletics Director, Division Heads, fellow teachers, counselor, school nurse, and other resources.
  • Plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program according to the guidelines provided by The O’Neal School curriculum which guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. This position may teach any grades between Pre-Kindergarten and Grade 8.
  • Have knowledge of, uphold, model, and communicate the mission of The O’Neal School.
  • Assess, record, and report on the development and progress of students.
  • Provide assistance with administration of athletics practices, contests, and other events, including but not limited to ensuring equipment, supplies, and facilities are stocked, clean, and ready for use.
  • Adhere to all health and sanitization requirements.
  • Assist with any and all matters pertaining to the day-to-day operations of the school’s athletics program.
  • Other responsibilities may be required as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
  • A Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on education, physical education, kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Previous experience teaching physical education, preferably at the lower school and/or middle school level.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills related to interactions with students, parents, and fellow teachers.
  • Attention to detail, strong organization skills, and an adherence to timeliness.
