Department Summary

The University of Oregon Intercollegiate Athletic Department's primary purpose is to provide a unique opportunity for student-athletes to be developed, tested, and encouraged to reach their maximum potential in every aspect of their lives. The department has approximately 250 administrative & classified employees and hosts over 600,000 spectators annually and represents the University of Oregon in athletic competition with other universities & colleges.

Position Summary

The Athletic Trainer will assist the Director of Athletic Medicine with the organization and administration of medical care for student-athletes. This position is supervised by the Senior Associate Director of Athletic Medicine and supervises Graduate Student Athletic Trainers (GEs) and/or interns.

Physical Demands:
  • Physical demands include overhead work on ladders, heavy lifting, stair climbing, bending, stretching, reaching, squatting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, extensive walking on hard smooth finishes as well as uneven surfaces and prolonged periods of exertion.

Minimum Requirements

  • Eligible for Oregon licensure as an Athletic Trainer.
  • One year of full-time Athletic Training experience post-graduation at a Division I university supporting a diverse population.
  • Master’s degree and current BOCATC certification.

Professional Competencies

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare delivery team.
  • Ability to work effectively with others from diverse backgrounds while promoting inclusion and supporting the diverse needs of individuals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Full time Athletic training experience working with high performance track and field athletes at the collegiate level.
  • Demonstrated advanced clinical skills to support Athletic Healthcare is strongly desired.
