Job Description

We invite applications for a research associate position in the Reed Biology Department to study bacterial biodegradation of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), the material used to make plastic water bottles and other single-use containers. This research offers an exciting opportunity to confront the immense problem of plastic pollution on our planet.

The successful candidate will minimally hold a B.S./B.A. in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field. A graduate degree and/or experience in molecular biology and chemical analysis techniques are a plus. Strong organizational and writing skills, as well as ability to work independently are preferred.

Funding for this work is from a three-year, collaborative NSF RUI grant. This is a full-time, exempt position,with starting salary of $45,000 per year.
