Job Overview
The Associate Athletics Director for Student Athlete Health and Wellness is responsible for developing, coordinating and administering a comprehensive sports health and wellness for the participants of the University’s intercollegiate sports. This includes, but is not limited to, oversight of Sports Medicine and any other health and wellness matters (e.g., nutrition, medical partners, insurance, etc.). The Associate AD for Student Athlete Health & Wellness assures the establishment of policy and procedures necessary for the operations of the health care systems and supervises the implementation of these policies.
The Associate AD directs, supervises and reviews the performance of the athletic training staff to ensure comprehensive athletic training services for all varsity sports in a consistent and sufficient manner. He/ she will provide clinical and administrative guidance, direction and support for all sports medicine staff. He/she must serve as a direct contact for the team physicians, and as a liaison between the physicians, athletic trainers, mental health providers, sports dietician, outside consultants, coaches, strength and conditioning staff, student-athletes and parents. The Associate AD for Student Athlete Health & Wellness is required to create a plan for appropriate team coverage for practices and competitions, and weekly and monthly staff schedules. The Associate AD monitors the accurate, complete, and timely documentation of medical records and injury documentation for each student-athlete. The Associate AD is responsible for developing a comprehensive Sport Medicine Department Policy and Procedure manual that includes, but is not limited to, expectations and assignments, proper athletics training room protocol and record keeping, the documentation of injury reports, the processing of insurance claims and general athletics training room guidelines. The Associate AD for Student Athlete Health & Wellness ensures that all athletics training staff adheres to the Sports Medicine Policies and Procedures and the NATA Code of Professional Conduct. The Head Athletics Trainer, in consultation with the Sr. Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations and the Sr. Associate AD for Business and Finance, will develop and maintain the annual operating budget, and inventory and order new equipment and supplies.
Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation This position reports directly to Senior Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations, serves as a member of the senior staff, and works closely with the team doctors.
This position has been designated as On-Campus.

Requirements and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. • Current NATABOC certification required • Current District of Columbia licensure for Fall 2023 academic year • Must meet criteria for certification as established by the NATA with respect to CEU’s • Must be able to work confidently in a crisis or emergency situation and demonstrate knowledge of safety practices. • Knowledge of University and Department philosophies, policies and regulations. • Strong organizational skills. • Knowledge of NCAA regulations. • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments. • Strong interpersonal skills that demonstrate an ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. • Valid driver’s license with good driving record; must be insurable. • Proficient in computer use and relevant Microsoft applications. • Available weekends and evenings.
