Job Description

Role Description

Spartanburg County Public Defender is seeking an Assistant Public Defender for a full-time on-site role in Spartanburg, SC. The Assistant Public Defender will be responsible for providing legal representation to indigent persons accused of crimes, as well as other related duties such as client interviews, document preparation, and court appearances.


Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • Admission to the South Carolina Bar or eligibility for admission upon application
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with criminal law and trial advocacy is preferred, but not required
  • Dedication to public service and social justice
  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school
