COVENTRY PUBLIC SCHOOLS Coventry, Rhode Island JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL - MIDDLE SCHOOL FUNCTION: Assume delegated responsibilities in the Middle School and provide professional leadership which maintains the well-being of students as the foundation of all decisions and actions. REPORTS TO: Principal MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. RI Principal's certification required. 2.
Minimum of Master's degree. 3. Minimum of five years teaching experience in secondary grades. 4.
Previous experience in school administration preferred. TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: 220 day work year. Salary and benefits per administrative salary ratio and contract. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 1.
Assume responsibility for all daily operations in assigned areas. 2. Assume responsibility for supervision and discipline of students in conjunction with the Dean (s) of Students. 3.
Maintain high visibility with the school. 4. Assume responsibility for administration, supervision, and evaluation of certified faculty and support personnel assigned. 5.
Assume responsibility for administration and supervision of all related student activities. 6. Assist in the scheduling of student academic assignments and courses. 7.
Serve as liaison to varied departments and teams as needed. 8. Cooperate with the Principal in coordinating academic standards, instructional programs, curriculum work, and program budgets. 9.
Coordinate and participate in Rtl, MTSS, Section 504, and IEP meetings. Conduct parent/teacher conferences on a regular basis. 10. Assist in coordinating public relation responses for school activities.
11. Assume administration and coordination of all parent programs, bulletins, orientation meetings, etc. 12. Perform additional special assignments at the direction of the Principal or Superintendent of Schools.
Supervises and Evaluates: Educators and Support Staff. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the School Committee's policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
