Job Description

Assistant Plastics Manager

WHAT WE WILL ASK YOU TO DO:

  • Maintain a positive working environment for Plastics employees.
  • Monitor, evaluate and be responsible for the overall plastics operations, responding and reporting to the Plastics Manager any emergencies that occur.
  • Work with Plastics Manager to ensure production standards are met.
  • This position will be responsible for assisting with the management of 2nd and 3rd shift injection molding operations.
  • Effective and efficient utilization of people resources.
  • Lead a team of supervisors and team leaders.
  • Establish standards and controls while maintaining optimum production output.
  • Oversee selection and career management of plastics production employees, striving to retain high quality individuals.
  • Oversee the effective documentation and implementation of the quality management system to assure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements and standards set by corporate policies.
  • Work with sales and customer service teams on new orders to ensure the plastics plant’s capabilities and the correct raw materials are used.
  • Work with Plastics and Plant Manager to ensure the profitability of parts that need to be examined due to marginal pricing.
  • Communicate with Plastics Manager other affected parties any issues or delays in manufacturing parts.
  • Ensure that production standards are met.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Exhibit sound and accurate judgement while providing reasons for decisions.
  • Knowledge of plastics industry a plus.
  • Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Great at building relationships.
  • Ability to make timely decisions regarding complex matters.
  • Lean manufacturing and Agile methodology experience a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of safety and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

DEMANDS OF THIS POSITION:

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds on an occasional basis.

  • This position will work primarily on 3rd shift and may occasionally assist with covering 2nd shift operations.
