Assistant, Nursing - 12 Hour, Medsurg (Ft, Days) Monterey Park Hospital

Monterey Park Hospital, located in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, is searching for a Nursing Assistant for our Med/Surg Unit. This is a full time, 12 hour, day shift position. Monterey Park Hospital is a 101 bed acute care community hospital. The Med/Surg Nursing Assistant (NA) receives assignments from and reports to the CN and takes direction from the RN &/or LVN. The NA position is directly responsible fo 9655

• Appropriate drug storage.
• Medication Use Evaluation Form
• Modify/supplement drug therapy ordered by physician.
• Patients Medical Record
• Other duties as assigned.
• Preparation of sterile products (aseptic technique).
• Enter orders into computer system accurately.
• Handling of hazardous chemicals/drugs.
• This position requires providing managerial/administrative supervision to departments which provide care/service to a critically ill through rehabilitating neonatal through geriatric patient population in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional and/or developmental age of the individual served.\
• Clinitrend or equivalent program
• Implement drug therapy as ordered by physician.
• This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of San Gabriel Valley Medical Center. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support San Gabriel Valley Medical Center’s strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).
• Evaluate patient medication regimens.
• Preparation of drugs/IVs.
• Screen for drug-drug/food-drug interactions.
• Dispensing of drugs/IVs.
• Documents activities on the appropriate forms
• Screen for duplication of treatment.
• Calculate drug dosages.
• Under the direction of the Department Director, is responsible for the accurate identification, preparation and distribution of drugs and other clinical pharmaceutical items. Also responsible for the direct supervision of ancillary personnel (technicians, interns, couriers) working in their immediate area.

Previous Hospital And Clinical Pharmacy Experience Preferred

Knowledge of unit dose systems, IV admixture, chemotherapy, clinical pharmacology, pharmacokinetics and drug use evaluation required

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Current CA Registered Pharmacist License
