Job Description

We are currently hiring an Assistant Manager, New Product Development in Boston, MA .

*A Hybrid position at Boston Beer requires that our coworkers reside within commuting distance to be onsite according to their teams’ weekly schedule.

The Assistant Manager of Product Development understands projects across the team to make sure there is consistency and information sharing. The coworker in this role will support NPD professionals by coaching them to uphold excellent product development and project management standards.

What You'll Brew:

  • Non-environmentally conditioned spaces which may lead to extreme hot and cold
  • Lead a team of NPD professionals in building the best new product development program focused on developing recipes that win with drinkers, meet required specs, and can be produced at the appropriate scale
  • Subject to loud and constant noise
  • Thoroughly understand and implement plans for large complex project across the team
  • Understand projects across the team to ensure consistency and information sharing
  • Establish excellent team-wide communication protocols, including concise and informative reports
  • Find and communicate roadblocks and potential solutions that may prevent scientific excellence to NPD leadership
  • There is frequent exposure production environments, such as:
    • Subject to loud and constant noise
    • Non-environmentally conditioned spaces which may lead to extreme hot and cold
  • Develop and coach New Product Development team members; maintain and develop strong interaction within NPD team
  • Have excellent communication skills including the ability to write concise, informative reports and verbally present complex technical information to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Acts as the technical and creative development lead for new product development projects
  • Analyze and interpret recipe data including both quality analysis and sensory feedback to propose next steps in development
  • Train and mentor new members of the NPD team in adherence to well documented SOPs and team standards
  • Communicate team standards and what is needed to meet these standards
  • Operating environment is complex and densely populated with production equipment and forklifts that necessitates high situational awareness

What Ingredients You'll Bring:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or other related fields with 5+ years in product development experience or a Master's Degree in Food Science or other related fields with 3+ years in product development experience
  • Project leadership and mentorship skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in beverage development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Workfront of equivalent project management software
