Assistant Head Cashier (Adams Ave)

Job Summary: The Assistant Head Cashier position will help manage a team in a grocery/retail store in absence of the head cashier to accomplish the goal of providing legendary customer service. This position is responsible for managing multiple people, supporting decisions of other staff members, and growing the business through optimal service, putting the customer first. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Help manage a team of grocery store cashiers. Create work schedule for cashiers in the absence of the head cashier. Responsible for adequate staffing to ensure that customer wait time is minimized. Create break schedule for cashiers. Compile reports for meetings. Discipline associates as needed. Oversee door greeters and lot attendants. Greet customers, answer questions and resolve issues. Responsible for training grocery store cashiers. Welcome customers with a friendly greeting. Scan items, request price checks, honors appropriate coupons, collect payment and give change as appropriate. Answer questions and help resolve issues when they arise. Maintain a safe and clean work environment. Perform other duties as needed. Qualifications: May require a high school diploma or its equivalent and 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Knowledgeable of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the grocery/retail industry. Understands basic instructions and pre-established guidelines. Works under immediate supervision. Abilities Required: Standing for prolonged periods of time, sitting, walking, speaking, seeing, hearing, bending, and reaching. Sufficient dexterity required for keyboarding. Must be able to move products up to 20 pounds occasionally.
