We are seeking an experienced Assistant Geotechnical Project Manager to support environmental and geotechnical engineering consulting in McLean or Midlothian, VA.
- Be capable of managing financial and technical aspects of project tasks.
- Comply with company and client Health & Safety protocols.
- Understand client needs and be able to develop strong client relationships.
- Comply with the Guiding Principles and Code of Behavior articulated in our Company Charter.
- Plan and direct geotechnical field observation and testing programs.
- Work with and support Project Managers on all aspects of the project to address client goals and objectives.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal communications and written skills, including client deliverables.
- Work collaboratively with multi- disciplinary project teams.
- Assist in project execution to meet technical, quality, budgetary and scheduling requirements.
- Evaluate seismic hazards, including liquefaction.
- Prepare recommendations for various foundation systems, including driven piles, drilled piers, mat foundations, micro- piles, and spread footings.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (required)
- Masters degree in Civil or Geotechnical engineering (preferred)
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
- Professional registration (EIT, PE).
- Strong organization skills and exceptional attention to detail is expected.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of geotechnical experience including site investigation, laboratory testing, geotechnical analysis, and geotechnical engineering construction support experience, including professional services consulting experience.
- Strong computer literacy skills, including proficiency in industry standard software.
- Experience with preparing recommendations for various foundation systems, including driven piles, drilled piers, mat foundations, micro-piles, and spread footings, evaluating seismic hazards including liquefaction.
- Experience in directing geotechnical field observation and testing programs.
- Experience with roadway embankments, bridge foundations, mid-and high- rise buildings; deep excavations, shoring and underpinning, mass grading, dewatering, and ground improvements techniques.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, flexibility, and willingness to see projects through to completion.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic skills in quality control, planning, cost estimating, and scheduling.
