Job Description
Primary Function
The Assistant Editor will support the studios team by performing general Post-Production and edit assist responsibilities primarily a client series. Such tasks include transcoding, organizing media, edit string-outs, scenes & sizzle reels, edit narration and music into sequences, and prep film projects for on-line and color correct. Additional work will include logging and categorizing media assets into the Media Asset Management System, CatDV. To be successful in this role, the Assistant Editor will stay current on industry standards and new technology. The Assistant Editor will report to the Post-Production Supervisor.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Output EDL’s, XML’s, and AAF files for shot sheet creation.
  • Directly assist Editors and Producers with stringouts, cutdowns, building scenes & selects and other creative editorial tasks.
  • Work on the various outreach materials pertaining to Wild Hope
  • Reversion videos to meet different specs depending on the distributor.
  • Media manage material onto drives or shared cloud services for remote editors and producers.
  • Review and log all original camera masters and project masters related to the client series into the CatDV Media asset Management system.
  • Cut narration and music into sequences.
  • Log and input metadata in excel documents and the MAM
  • Create and generate links to Wild Hope cuts and master files on Frame.io, WeTransfer or Massive.io.
  • Copy, Transcode, rewrap all camera formats delivered to Tangled Bank using Media Encoder and/or Compressor.
  • Organize, digitize and multi-group footage using Adobe Premiere and Avid Media Composer
  • Prep sequences for final finishing during online phase of edits.
  • Assist other client projects as requested.
  • Generate proxies of dailies for screening.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Must have the legal right to work in the United State
  • Computer skills: Adobe Creative Suite, Avid Media Composer and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently, use good judgment and meet tight deadlines, show initiative.
  • Proven experience with Adobe Premiere and the Adobe Creative Suite. Avid Media Composer familiarity a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of file-based and shared network workflows and procedures. Understanding of formats, frame rates, codecs and file types required.
  • Knowledge of broadcast and streaming standards and conversions. Solid knowledge on the various frame rates, resolutions and aspect ratios is required.
  • Equivalent experience with encode/transcode/convert/authoring software systems such as Adobe Media Encoder and Compressor.
  • Excellent communications skills with ability to understand and follow direction.
  • Familiar and comfortable with working in a SAN/NAS networked environment.
  • Firm knowledge with multicamera workflows with audio video syncing experience.
Education & Experience
  • Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods of time; reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s); dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers, for example using a keyboard; communication skills using the spoken word; ability to see and hear within normal parameters; ability to move about workspace. The position requires mobility, including the ability to move materials weighing up to several pounds (such as a laptop computer or tablet).
  • At least 2 years of Assistant Editor and or Post-Production Assistant experience
  • This position is required to work onsite Mondays through Thursdays weekly and remotely on Fridays.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related media experience.
