About the position:


Responsible for three major functions in the administration of the Early Head Start Program. The first major responsibility involves the implementation and supervision of all aspects of the operation of the center. The second major responsibility involves collaboration with the EHS Director, the Program Specialists, the teachers, and other center staff to assure compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards and the New York Child Care licensing requirements in the operation of the center. The third major responsibility is the implementation of the human resources policies and procedures as applicable to center staff. In all major functions, a systems approach is desired.


Day-to-Day Responsibilities: (Additional tasks will be discussed during the interview.)


  • Approving staff schedules and timecards in accordance with EHS performance standards, NY state licensing, and Urban Strategies policies.
  • Assure the center is fully equipped with furniture, materials, and supplies.
  • Conduct daily observations of classrooms, office, kitchen, and playground.
  • Attend staff, personnel, professional development meetings assigned, including, but not limited to, Urban Strategies and department or programmatic staff meetings.
  • Supervise and evaluate teaching staff as well as assist Director with supervising other center staff.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and contribute to the healthy management of the EHS program.
  • Responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring of goals, objectives, and expected outcomes
  • Assists Director in developing a training and professional development plan for all center staff, regardless of their program option, that adheres to the Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Assure compliance with daily staff-child ratios and daily attendance.
  • Assure the health, safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of indoor and outdoor learning environments.
  • Responsible for the implementation of the CACFP program, monitoring the daily meal service, documentation, and reporting.


Requirements Qualifications: (Educational and/or Experience required.)


  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Leadership ability with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work independently and maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to meet tight deadlines
  • New York State Teaching Certificate or be enrolled in a study plan approved by the Department of Health, leading to certification
  • Experience and/or knowledge of New York Child Care Licensing Minimum Standards
  • Three plus years’ experience working in an administrative capacity in an education setting with at least three years of supervisory experience or Five plus years’ experience working in an administrative capacity in an education setting with five years of supervisory experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Family and Human Development or Master’s Degree in Education, Curriculum, and Instruction
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • Experience in the CACFP guidelines and implementation
  • Experience in Human Resources management and operations and the use of management information systems
  • Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and New York Child Care Minimum Standards

Benefits


Salary: $60,000


Sign on Bonus: $2000 (Half paid after 30 days, balance paid 60 days)
