The Assistant Director of Athletics Development reports to the Executive Director of Athletics Development and will lead the day-to-day management and planning of fundraising and engagement events. The Assistant Director will be responsible for executing a robust stewardship program related to the Nova Points program and fulfillment of annual donor benefits. The Assistant Director will be the primary liaison with University Advancement Communication supporting all communications related to events, announcements, newsletters and more. The Assistant Director will assist the Executive Director as liaisons between Athletics and Annual Giving as it relates to the execution of annual giving direct mail and e-mail solicitations. The Assistant Director will be the primary liaison with the Alumni Association, helping support engagement opportunities and creating new initiatives. The Assistant Director will maintain a portfolio of Athletics annual fund prospects.

Duties And Responsibilities


  • Will assist coordination and tracking of Athletics annual giving direct mail and email solicitations. Serves as liaison with Executive Director between Athletics and Annual Giving as it relates to this effort. Will attend meetings as representative of Athletics Development when the Executive Director is unable to attend a meeting.
  • Identify and manage a portfolio of athletics annual fund prospects.
  • Will oversee all data coordination projects for Athletics Development related to event invitations, strategic communication and timely annual fund solicitations. Primary delegation of these projects will be directed to the Administrative Assistant. Data needs for scheduled annual fund solicitations will continue to be managed by the annual giving team.
  • Serve as supervisor for Graduate Intern position to be hired for FY24 to provide support to Assistant Director for various Athletics Development projects, including events, stewardship, communication and data coordination.
  • Will serve as primary liaison with the Alumni Association, supporting engagement opportunities and creating new initiatives. Initiatives will include serving as primary liaison for the Student-Athlete Mentorship Program, establishing alumni leadership group guidelines and helping create student-athlete alumni affinity group.
  • Will work closely with UA and Senior Director of Advancement for Men’s Basketball on tickets/hospitality requests process for Men’s Basketball home games.
  • Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned.
  • Will serve as primary liaison with University Advancement Communication, helping coordinate all communications related to events, announcements, newsletters and more. Will work closely in this process with the Executive Director to ensure that all communications are reviewed/approved by all parties included before final and distributed.
  • Will lead execution of robust stewardship program related to the Nova Points program and fulfillment of annual donor benefits. The Nova Points program includes coordinating a bi-annual refresh of all totals for external constituents in conjunction with the Men’s Basketball postseason seating process and Men’s Basketball season ticketholders renewal process.
  • Will serve as the primary point of contact for Athletics Development events, including day-to-day management and planning of fundraising and engagement events. Will work closely with Athletics/Head Coaches and University Advancement (UA) Special Events to ensure all events are successfully executed, the events budget is managed and that feedback from current year events is appropriately documented and considered for future years. Will work closely with Athletics Marketing/Media Relations to assist with promoting events to Athletics constituents. Will be required to attend events and other Athletics programming, including Men’s Basketball home games, Football home games and other events as needed (i.e., Men’s Basketball away games, Women’s Basketball home/away games, etc.).


Minimum Qualifications


  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills are required.
  • Ability to collaborate with many departments within University Advancement, Athletics and the University.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience, preferably in higher education, college athletics and/or development.
  • Ability to interact effectively externally with alumni, parents and friends of the university, in addition to staff members at all levels, diplomacy, tact and discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality required.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, leadership, verbal and written communications skills required.


Preferred Qualifications


  • In-depth knowledge of alumni engagement and development areas of a higher education development function preferred.
  • Athletic program experience is preferred.


Physical Requirements And/or Unusual Work Hours


Travel and ability to work evenings and weekends required.
